Rose (Spieker) Trecker
Rose Margaret, daughter of Anthony and Regina Pulver Spieker was born May 13, 1911, in Carroll, Iowa. She attended school at St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic School in Carroll. After her schooling she worked as a housekeeper.
On October 7, 1932, Rose was united in marriage with Joseph Bernard Trecker in Carroll. One son was born to this union. The family farmed near Templeton. In 1964 they retired from farming and moved into Manning. Joseph died April 28, 1969.
Rose was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Guild in Templeton. After moving, she became a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning. Rose enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing bingo, and watching the Chicago Cubs. She was like a second mother to her grandchildren and she enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.
On Saturday, April 10, 1999, Rose was admitted to St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll where she died on Tuesday, April 13, 1999, following a brief illness. She reached the age of 87 years and 11 months.
Besides her parents and husband, Rose is preceded in death by one brother Lawrence Spieker; two sisters: Mercedes Kramer and Irene and her husband Rudy Wessling; and a daughter-in-law Barbara Trecker.
Rose is survived by her son Dennis Trecker of Manning; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Viola Spieker of Manning; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
