ROSE MARIE STUMPE

Rose Marie Stumpe was born at Remsen, Iowa, November 26, 1913, the daughter of Fred and Amanda Helena (Kollmetz) Urban. When she was five years old the family moved to Wadena, Minnesota, where she received her education in the rural schools.

On December 13, 1935, Rose was united in marriage with Charles Ray Shamp at Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

They made their home at Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, for one year before moving to Manning, Iowa. That marriage later ended in divorce.

On March 15, 1944, Rose was united in marriage with Fred Stumpe at Carroll, Iowa. They made their home in Manning where Mr. Stumpe died April 26, 1964. In later years Rose was employed as custodian at First Presbyterian Church in Manning.

Upon her retirement in 1975 she moved to Denison, Iowa.

On November 11, 1985, Rose moved to Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison where she resided until her death Saturday evening, August 10, 2002. At the time of her death she had attained the age of 88 years 8 months, and 14 days.

Rose was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Manning and, for many years, was in the Cancer Research Program at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Including her parents, Rose was preceded in death by three sisters, Velma Urban, Elsie Urban and Clara Ranniger and one grandson.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her only daughter, Sylvia and husband, Donald Lutz of Denison, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Private graveside memorial services and inurnment were held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2002, at the Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Brian Kokensparger officiating.

The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
