Rose H. Rubel
Funeral services for Rose H. Rubel were held Saturday, August 21, 1993, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. Pastor Bruce Laabs officiated the service with Barbara Smith as organist. Interment was held in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon with Alvin Albertsen, Amos Asmus, Lyle David, Gene Karstens, Edward Puck, and Duane Smith as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Lyle Christoffersen, Richard Rug and David Schrampfer.
Rose H. Rubel, the daughter of Jacob and Emma Meyer Bald, was born October 24, 1909, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa, and died August 18, 1993, at the Friendship Home in Audubon at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 24 days.
She was baptized in 1909 and confirmed in 1923 at Trinity Lutheran Church north of Audubon. She attended parochial school at Trinity Lutheran Church. She then helped care for her brothers and sisters. Rose was then employed at various jobs for several different businesses.
On October 19, 1958 she was united in marriage to Albert Rubel at Laurens, Iowa. They farmed in Greeley Township, Audubon County their entire married life. Albert died May 16, 1969. Rose moved into Audubon and maintained her own home until she became a resident of the Friendship Home in Audubon on July 17, 1993. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. While she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church she was active in teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the Lutheran Youth Fellowship, the Walther League, the Ladies Club, and the Wednesday Morning Bible Study. She enjoyed gardening and spent many hours working on her needle work.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband was an infant great-grandchild; her parents; her sisters: Esther Habrel and Anna Borkowski; her brothers: Herman Bald, George Bald and Fred Bald.
Survivors include her stepchildren: Gloria and Virgil Magill of Casey; Albert Dean and Shirley Rubel of Brayton; Leo and Elizabeth Rubel, Sandra and Alvie Bald, all of Audubon; 18 step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; her brother and his wife, Walter and Verna Bald of Manning; her sister and her husband, Vera and Bob Dennis of Exira; her sisters-in-law, Irene Bald of Manning and Mary Bald of Springfield, Oregon; her aunt and uncle Oscar and Louise Berlin of Hobart, Indiana; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
