ROSA JOHANN "ROSIE" SCHROEDER

Rosa Johanna "Rosie," daughter of Henry and Emma (Kortum) Dammam was born July 22, 1901, at Manning. She attended school in Manning.

Rosie was united in marriage with William J. Schroeder on March 23, 1921, at Denison. Three children were born to this union: LaVerne, Donald, and Shirley. Rosie and Bill lived in Aspinwall for 30 years, moving to Manilla in 1951. Bill worked for the Milwaukee Railroad.

After Bill's death in 1973, Rosie continued to make her home in Manilla, moving to the Manilla Manor - Nursing Home four months ago. She was hospitalized earlier this week and died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital on Friday morning, February 22, 1985, at the age of 83 years and seven months.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, William J. Schroeder on March 25, 1973; by her sister, Hazel Duede; and by her son, LaVerne, on Dec. 18, 1984.

She is survived by her son, DonaId and his wife, Kathryn, of Des Moines; by her daughter, Shirley, Mrs. Richard Swanson of Manilla; by a daughter-in-law, Rozora Schroeder of Manning; by 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchiJdren; a brother, Lester Dammann of Manning; two sisters; Mrs. Goldie Maney of Roseburg, Ore. and Alvina Pearson of Oskaloosa; by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Rosie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla.
Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 24, 1985, at 2:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Manilla. Pastor Glenn Wiechmann officiated. She was buried in the Manning City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kyle Schroeder, Kurt Schroeder, Mark Schroeder, Dennis Swanson, Steven Swanson, and Dale Swanson.

Memorial Prayer services were Saturday evening, 8:00 p.m., at Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla.
Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla was in charge of arrangements.


Rosa Schroeder is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
