Funeral services for Robert P. Petersen were held Tuesday, July 2, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. at Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler Westcenter Chapel, Omaha, Nebraska. Reverend Kirk Ryckman of the Presbyterian Church of the Cross officiated the service with Ron Haddock as singer and Dana Sloan as organist. Interment was held at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska with Darek Blackwood, Ray Graves, Don Deitchler, Ozzie Olson, Jim Bachman, Scott Ruser and Al Hansen as casketbearers.
Robert P. Petersen, the son of Peter and Amanda (Hagedorn) Petersen, was born February 27, 1916, at Mt. Auburn, Iowa.
He graduated with the Manning High School Class of 1934 and was an all-state third baseman. He attended one year of college. He was united in marriage to Marian J. Palmer. His occupation was banking and insurance. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Cross in Omaha, Nebraska.
Robert died at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 3 days at his residence in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 30, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Marian J.; daughter, Rita C. Blackwood, of El Cajon, California; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary R. and Kim J. Petersen of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Rebecca James of Omaha, Nebraska; and six grandchildren.
