Funeral services for R.J. Summerville, 60, were held in the Presbyterian Church, Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2 o'clock. Rev. H. Brown of Omaha conducted the services. Casket bearers were R.G. Sutherland, George Struve, Jacob Carsten, William Fischer, Henry Kleespies and Alfred Kuhl. Mrs. Nick Schrum sang solos, accompanied by Mrs. Henry Hagedorn.
Burial was in the Manning cemetery.
Funeral services had been held on Thursday in the Emmanuel Presbyterian church in Los Angeles. Mrs. Summerville and Mrs. Madge Moline of West Hollywood accompanied the body to Manning, arriving Saturday night.
R.J. Summerville was born January 29, 1881, in Shelby County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Summerville. He passed away December 2, 1941, at his home in Los Angeles following a long illness.
When Robert was eleven years old, the family moved to Carroll County where Mr. Summerville made his home until 1924 when the family moved to Los Angeles County, California. He married Dora Hockett at Manning February 17, 1906, who passed away on December 12, 1918. Two daughters were born to them, Mrs. Robert Moline (Madge) of West Hollywood and Mrs. Carl Gray (Phyllis) Alten, British, Columbia.
August 11, 1921, he was married to Mrs. Esther Countryman at Manning.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, a step-son, Jordan Countryman, Los Angeles, two brothers, David of Ladysmith, Wis.; William of Gray, and three sisters, Mrs. Will Quantz (Lizzie) Boone; Mrs. George Carsten (Emma), Omaha; and Mrs. Dan Nellis (Laura).
