MRS. RITA SWANDER Mrs. Rita Swander, 58, of Iowa City, formerly of Manning, died Wednesday evening, October 2, 1974, at Oaknoll Nursing Home, Iowa City, after a long illness.

Grave services will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery here at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Norbert Weber, M.S.C., officiating. The family will meet with friends at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning Friday evening from 7:30 until 8:30.

Mrs. Swander, daughter of Dr. Marcus and Nellie (Signall) Lynch, was born at Omaha March 26, 1916. She graduated from Atlantic High School and the University of Iowa, and taught in Webster Groves, Missouri, and San Diego, California, schools. She lived in Manning from 1950 until 1958, during which time she served on the Manning school board. After living in Davenport, she spent a year in Arizona and the last three years in Iowa City.

Survivors include three children, John Mark Swander of Monterey, California, James Edward Swander of San Francisco, California, and Mary Gail Swander of Iowa City; and a granddaughter, Michelle, of Monterey.
