Born in Manning, Iowa, he was a son of the late Fred and Amelia (DeConnick) Wellendorf. He graduated from Manning High School in 1956.
Dick retired from Hoffman-LaRouche in Salisbury as a plant manager after more than 30 years of service. He had a strong and personal relationship with God. A former horseman, he loved owning and riding horses. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary "Kay" Wellendorf; a daughter, Kim Kranz and her husband, Ivan, of Carpenter, Wyoming; a son, Mark Wellendorf of La Pine, Oregon; six grandchildren, Katherine Duffey, Dylan Kranz, Micheal, Christopher, Courtney, and Cassie Wellendorf; a sister, Rita (Mrs. Gerald) Beck of Manning, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
A special time of remembrance will be planned by the family at a later date.
