Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church for Richard Carl Stuedeman, 90, who died at Terrance Manor Rest Home early Tuesday morning. The Rev. Richard Neilsen will officiate at the service.
Dick Stuedeman was born January 11, 1888, at De Witte, Iowa, to Rudolph and Dorothy (Claussen) Stuedeman. He started his education there and then moved to Manning, Iowa where he graduated from the public high school. He then attended Boyles Business College at Omaha before returning to Manning where he worked for his father in the Implement business. He was married March 4, 1914, at Carroll, Iowa, to Hazel Moerke and the remained at Manning for one year and then moved to Springfield, Minnesota, for two years. In 1918 they returned to Manning where they farmed until coming to Moody County in 1923. They farmed east of Flandreau until 1946 when they retired and moved into Flandreau where he made his home until entering Terrace Manor rest home.
Mr. Stuedeman served on the Littig school board for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one son, Ralph of Flandreau, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1973, his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be William Greenhoff, Boyd Bennett, Robert Duncan, Rudy Weigel, Edward Kramer and Warren Ludeman.
Interment will be in Flandreau Cemetery.
