REUBEN A. STOBERL

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, at 10:30 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning for Reuben Stoberl, 63, of Manning who died unexpectedly on Thursday morning, April 7, 1988.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Sushil Joseph of the United Methodist Church in Manning.
Organist will be Mr. Stoberl's niece, Kathleen Johnston, and vocalist will be Carolyn Miller.
Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 10, after 3 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home.
Casket bearers will be Eugene Stoberl, Ronald Dreher, John Meislahn, Harry Campbell, Robert Tigges, and Randy Stoberl.

Mr. Stoberl was born November 26, 1924, on a farm east of Manning in Carroll County. His parents were Anton and Clara (Mersman) Stoberl.

He attended rural schools near his home and also Manning High School. After school, he worked for Dultmeier Manufacturing Co. and drove a truck for Peter L. Petersen and Holtz Brothers, both of Gray.

On May 12, 1946, he married Edith Lawson in Gray. They rented farms near Ross, Aspinwall and Botna, until they bought their own farm southwest of Manning in 1955. In addition he was a livestock buyer.

Because of a heart attack and stroke suffered in May 1986, he retired from the farm and moved to Manning in 1987.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Manning, and was a member of the Aspinwall Cooperative.

Survivors include his wife, Edith of Manning; five children: Nancy Stammer and her husband, Calvin, of Manning; Karen Stoelk and her husband, Dr. Eugene, of Portland, Oregon; Judy Reinke and her husband, Duane, of Ankeny; Richard Stoberl of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Debra Howell and her husband, Dave, of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren, Clinton and Chad Stammer and Nathan and Kristina Stoelk; two sisters, Valeria Dreher and her husband, Louis, of Audubon and Irene Meislahn and her husband, Herman, of Gray; two brothers, Lyle Stoberl and his wife, Mary of Stewart, and Norbert Stoberl and his wife, Virginia of Manning, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Stoberl of Audubon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sophia Heckenliable, and a brother, Leonard J. Stoberl.
