IN MEMORIAM RAYMOND VOLLSTEDT
Raymond, son of Wilhelm and Cecelia (Kuhl) Vollstedt, was born September 17, 1910, near Manning, Carroll County, Iowa. He was baptized on May 13, 1926, and was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith on May 16, 1926. He was graduated from country school on June 1, 1923. After that he worked as a farm laborer and for Carroll County on road work. On May 30, 1934, Raymond was united in marriage with Melvina Kuhl and they farmed east of Irwin until 1940. They then farmed in the Manning area. Melvina died on July 10, 1974. Raymond moved into Manning in 1977.

On January 11, 1986, he entered the Manning General Hospital and became a resident of the Manilla Manor on January 20, 1986. He resided there until March 9, 1986, at which time he entered Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa, where he passed away on Thursday, March 20 at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 3 days.

Besides his wife, Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; by three brothers, Bill, Hugo, and Virtus; and by a sister, Elsie.

He is survived by a son, Paul, of Manilla; by a daughter, Darlys and her husband, Gerry Bean of Lake City; by five grandchildren: Brian and his wife, Stacy, of Iowa City; Judy of Kansas City; Melissa, Wendy and Jeremy, all at home in Lake City; by a brother, Ted, of Manning; by a sister, Mabel Borkowski of Carroll; by an aunt, Hulda Bargenquast, of Manilla, and by many other relatives and friends.

Raymond was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.


Raymond Vollstedt is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
