Raymond August Vetter
Raymond August Vetter, age 90, of Arcadia, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa. Born on August 22, 1914, at Arcadia, Iowa, he was the son of Otto and Rosa (Boldt) Vetter. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia where he was a lifelong member. He was married to Marcella Hoick on November 24, 1942, by Pastor Theodore Tews. Raymond attended country school in Arcadia Township through the 8th grade. He moved away from home at age 14 and worked as a hired hand for various farmers in the Arcadia area. After his marriage to Marcella, they rented two different farms in the Arcadia area. In 1948 they purchased a farm four miles north of Manning where they remained until retirement in 1982 when they moved to Arcadia.

Surviving are a daughter Carol Sue Satterlee and her husband Alan of Omaha, Nebraska; two sons: Dennis Ray Vetter and his wife Dianne of Arcadia, and Keith Alan Vetter and his wife Laurie of Manning; five sisters: Ida Schmidt of Wall Lake, Iowa, Margaret Borkowski of Carroll, Bernice Branning and her husband Art of Arcadia, Ruth Reissen and her husband Leonard of Vail, and Phyllis Mumm of Westside; five grandchildren: Brian Satterlee and his wife Karen, Leora Vetter DeWitt and her husband Randy, Kristen Satterlee Pomajzl and her husband Jarrod, Donald Vetter and his wife Angelic, and David Vetter; two great grandchildren: Ava Milan Pomajzl and Russell Ray DeWitt. Also surviving are four sisters-in-law: Anna Marie Liechti of Arcadia, Maxine Rolfes of Hawarden, Iowa, Iola Hoogestraat of Carroll and Florence Beisch of Santa Ana, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marcella, a daughter Lou Ann Vetter, a brother Albert Vetter, a sister Selma Dalgety, a sister Valeria and a brother Virgil (both as children), and a grandson Michael Vetter.
