Funeral services for Raymond A. Ross were held August 1, 1991 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Robert Riggert officiated the service with Paula Weiss as organist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with John Ohde, Ken Spies, David Kastle, Duane Karsten, Rick Sisson and Lyle Borkowski as casketbearers. Arrangements were made by Ohde Funeral Home.
Raymond, son of Fred D. and Elizabeth (Meyer) Ross, was born October 6, 1913, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. After he graduated from Manning High School in 1931, he joined his father as a partner in the Ford Garage. The garage was located at the corner of Center and Third Streets. In 1959 they sold the business to N & B Motors where Ray worked for a short time. He was then a school bus driver for 20 years, retiring in 1980. Throughout his life, Ray was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
After a short illness Ray died on Sunday, July 28, 1991, at the Manning General Hospital, Manning, Iowa at the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 22 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Selma Hopkins.
Ray is survived by his children: Wayne Ross and his wife, Jean, of Perry, Ohio; Daru Ross and his wife, Eileen, of Carroll; and Connie Patrick, of Manning; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one niece; other relatives and friends.
