Ralph Sailer
Ralph, son of Rafael and Theresa (Mayer) Sailer, was born November 11, 1910, at his home near Templeton, Iowa. He attended country school near Gray. After his schooling he worked on the farm with his father, as well as being a hired hand for area farmers. Ralph lived near Halbur and Aspinwall. After his father died in 1964, Ralph moved into Aspinwall and continued to work for area farmers.
Ralph enjoyed being outdoors, walking, and visiting with family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with wood in his basement. He made it a point to attend special occasions with his family. Ralph was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Manilla.
On Monday, April 5, 1999, Ralph died at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, after suffering a heart attack a few days earlier at his home in Aspinwall. He reached the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 24 days.
Besides his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by two sisters: Ann Sailer and Katherina Schillinger; and two brothers: Martin and Frank Sailer.
Ralph is survived by a sister Teresa Wanninger of Manning; a sister-in-law Sophia Sailer of Charter Oak; 17 nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
