Mass of the Christian Burial was held for Phyllis Snyder of Carroll, Iowa on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Celebrant was Father James McCormick. Lector was Kyl Knobbe. Gift bearers were granddaughters, Melissa Snyder, Stephanie Snyder, Jessica Snyder, Sarah Skoog, Eva Tavernier, and Megan McNeill. Mass servers were Kent Knobbe, Amy Greying, and Tyler Naberhaus. Casketbearers were grandsons, Chris Skoog, Lukas Snyder, Adam Snyder, Jim McNeill, Robert Snyder, and Joshua Snyder. Interment was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll, Iowa.

A visitation was held at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll on Monday, February 20, 2006 with a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. A Christian wake service was held at 7:00 p.m. by Holy Spirit Parish.

Phyllis died Friday, February 17, 2006 at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 71.

Phyllis, daughter of Eugene and Zita (Derner) Zerwas was born December 26, 1934 at Burlington, Iowa. At a young age her family moved to Manning, Iowa, where she graduated from Manning High School and then attended Drake University in Des Moines. On October 28, 1954, she was married to Robert M. Snyder at Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa. The couple made their home in Carroll where Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business Snyder Tree Service. In later years she helped at her son Ken's business Carroll Cleaning Supply. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Parish Ladies Guild. She enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, fishing, playing cards, gardening, and baking. Mrs. Snyder was an avid sports fan and received the Super Fan Award in the Carroll County Sixteen-Inch Softball Hall of Fame.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Phyllis is survived, by her husband, Robert Snyder of Carroll; children: Terri Skoog and her husband Eric of Denison, Larry Snyder and his wife Lora of Hal-bur, John Snyder and his wife Deb of Carroll, Ken Snyder and his wife Nancy of Glidden, Dave Snyder and his wife Michelle of Glidden, Angie McNeill and her husband Jim of Newton, Jim Snyder and his fiance Donna Hudson .of Carroll, Curt Snyder and his wife Tracey of Carroll, and Phil Snyder and his wife Michele of Carroll; twenty-nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Michael Zerwas of Portland Oregon and Phil Zerwas and wife. Jean of Sheridan, Wyoming; sisters, Lois Bandow and her, husband Tom of Mesa, Arizona and Anne Allen and her husband Tom of Port Angeles, Washington.

Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
