Death of Peter Sievers
Peter Sievers died August 26, 1906, at his son's home southeast of Manning; old age being
the result of his death. The funeral was held at the German Lutheran Church in this city, Rev.
Jost of Glidden officiating. Deceased was born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, March 16,
1824, and was married to Anette Fresse in 1849. Three children were born, two of which are
living, Mrs. Blunck of Sioux City and Peter H. Sievers, Jr., of Manning.
They came to America in 1869, settling in Tama County and later came to Carroll County.
Mr. Sievers also leaves fourteen
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren to mourn their loss. He was a good kind
father and a good citizen always very reliable in every way. The remains were followed to
their last resting place by a long concourse of friends. The Monitor joins in extending
sympathy to the bereaved relatives in their sorrow.
Peter Sievers is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
