P.N. Rothfolk, 80, Died Sunday At His Home
Peter Nicholas Rothfolk was born August 29th, 1853. He was the son of Peter and Anna Rothfolk of New Holstein, Wisconsin. His only brother proceeded him in death 47 years ago.
He was educated and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in New Holstein, Wisconsin. On November 5th, 1876 he was married to Emma Margaret Meggers to which union there were born seven children of which two died in infancy. Those who are left to mourn him besides his bereaved wife are two sons: Edward of Cooper, Iowa. James of Manning, Iowa.
The three daughters are:
Mrs. Frank Hinz of Manning.
Mrs. W. T. Esser of Omaha, Neb.
Anna who lives at home.
There are also left 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In 1902 he left the ancestral home in New Holstein, Wisconsin, and moved to a farm at Herndon, Iowa. Here he lived until 1909 in which year he came to Manning, Iowa, where he spent happily the remaining years of his married life.
Mr. Rothfolk had not enjoyed good health for some years, but notwithstanding his frailty he was a man of great courage, and in search of better health he journeyed to the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minn. His advancing years, however, were a very real handicap, and about a week ago he suffered a stroke, and on Sunday, February the 4th, 1934, the end came. He died at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
The sympathies of our neighborhood are given to his sorrowing wife and children, and we are mindful that a good and honest man has passed away.
