Funeral services for Peter Mohr were conducted Saturday, May 24, 1947, at the Henning funeral home at 1:30 p.m. and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. H. Meting officiating.
Pallbearers were Ed Spahn, Henry Timm, Herman Wellner, Herman Kiepe, Carl Jahn, and Fred Kiepe. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery at Ute.
Peter Mohr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Mohr, was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, on the 25th of March 1866. He came to America at the age of 5 and located in Clinton County, Iowa. There he was married to Miss Caroline Petersen on March 26, 1889. He lived in Clinton County until 1890, at Manning for three years and in the vicinity of Ute since 1893.
He joined the Lutheran congregation at Ute as a charter member in 1898 and served as elder for 40 years.
Mr. Mohr suffered a stroke about two years ago and another severe stroke on May 18. He was taken to a Sioux City hospital where he died Thursday morning, May 22, 1947, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 27 days.
His passing is mourned by two sons, Fred and John, of Ute and two daughters, Mrs. Alma Bartels of Ute and Mrs. Amanda Schroeder of Charter Oak. He is also survived by two brothers, George and John, both of Manning; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Peter, who died in 1918, and his wife who died in 1932.
