Mrs. Swaney was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star, and officers of Twilight Chapter, gave the Eastern Star service in honor of their departed sister. Mrs. K.B. Welty was soloist for both services.

Out of town relatives here were Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Swaney and children of Cedar Rapids, Wilson Swaney and son of Ft. Dodge and Mrs. Lucas and daughter, Mrs. Venita Jensen of Estherville.

Living with her parents during her school days, she later prepared herself for teaching at a teacher's school in Glidden, Iowa. Upon completion she taught a country school in Greene County for three years.

On January 1, 1902, she was united in marriage to D.L. Swaney at Dedham, Iowa. They subsequently took a voyage to South America and Europe.

Upon their return they lived in Manning, Iowa, and while living there one son was born, Lynn Garland Swaney, on November 28, 1904. Later in 1913, the family moved to Spirit Lake, and have since been residents of this community where they have made many friends.

Mrs. Swaney for years was active in the Eastern Star and was past Worthy Matron. She was also interested in her Christian Science work and is a past reader.
