Rites are held in Skroch Chapel for Paul G. Moerke
Funeral services for Paul G. Moerke, 93 were conducted Friday afternoon, April 27, from the Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau. Mr. Moerke passed away in the North American Baptist home in Madison on Tuesday, April 24, 1962. The Rev. Robert Stemme officiated at the services.

Paul G. Moerke, son of John and Pauline (Block) Moerke, was born on December 12, 1868, at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. At the age of one year, he moved with his parents to Boone, Iowa, where he received his education and grew to manhood. He was engaged in the Cigar Manufacturing business.

On July 16, 1890, he was united in marriage to Lillian Anthony at Sioux City. They lived in Des Moines, Iowa, for six years, in Sioux City, Iowa, for two years and at Manning, Iowa for about 30 years. In 1927, they moved to Flandreau and in 1930 they moved to Garretson, returning to Flandreau in 1934. Mrs. Moerke passed away at Flandreau in June, 1936.

In 1941, Mr. Moerke moved to Canton and on September 22, 1941, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Randolph at Le Mars, Iowa. She passed away in October, 1946. Since that time, he has lived at Flandreau and Canton until three years ago when he became a resident of the North American Baptist home in Madison. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the AOUW Lodge.

Mr. Moerke is survived by two daughters, Lola Moerke and Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Stuedeman, both of Flandreau, one grandson and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, parents, five brothers and one sister.

Special music at the services was furnished by Kenneth Whaley, soloist, with Mrs. Harold Tillman as accompanist. Pallbearers included Olaf Nold, Leonard Amdahl, Walter Barker, Oliver Larson, Robert Dailey and Edward Kramer. Interment was in the Flandreau Cemetery.
