PAUL KARL PAULSEN
Funeral rites for Paul Karl Paulsen, 75, of Irwin, were held Monday, October 10, at 2 p.m. in the Irwin Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nancy Nichols officiating. Mr. Paulsen died in his sleep early Saturday morning, October 8, 1966.

Milton Barry was soloist; Mrs. Barry, the organist. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Larson, Richard Larson, Gaylord Johnson, Donald Johnson, Richard Johnson, and Earl Knudson.

Masonic graveside rites were in charge of Sardius Lodge No. 444 of Irwin, of which Mr. Paulsen was a member.

Son of Paul and Maria (Gorichs) Paulsen, he was born May 29, 1891, at Irwin. He attended Irwin Schools and graduated from Harlan High School. He was married to Ora Johnson on February 7, 1916. With the exception of five years spent at Danbury, he lived in Irwin. He was associated in a general store, first with his father, and later with his son.

His wife died August 15, 1964. He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers.

He is survived by his son, Russell Paulsen, Irwin; a grandson, John Paulsen and three great-grandchildren; also the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Anna Larson and Alfred Paulsen, Irwin; Mrs. Francis (Elsie) McMahon and Ted Paulsen, Manning; and Mrs. Alice Gaines, Des Moines.

Mr. Paulsen was active in civic affairs, and served as town clerk more than 25 years.

In addition to the Masonic Lodge, he was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and of the Methodist Church, in which he held many offices.
