In Memory of Orrin Welch

Orrin Scott Welch, 87, born October 11, 1855, prominent pioneer Iowa farmer and stockman, who died Thursday February 11, 1943, at a hospital in Maywood, California, is being brought back to Audubon, Iowa, his former home for burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.

For many years Mr. Welch lived on a farm south of Manning. When he was six years old, he came to McGregor, Iowa, with his parents David and Matilda (Shields) Welch.

Mr. Welch was married twice. May 16, 1879, he married Miss Matilda Oddy of Guthrie County. Several years after her death he married Miss Louise Bell Arnold of Ohio in May 1889.

Mr. Welch was the father of fourteen children, eight of whom are still living: Will, John and Frank of Audubon; Mabel Shaw, South Gate, California; Ben, Manning; Orrin S. Jr., Huntington Park, California; Lyle, Bell, California; and Elsie Reese, Grants Pass, Oregon.

He leaves 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also has one surviving sister, Mrs. Phebe (Thomas) Rehrdon, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
