Word had been received that Orlo Schelldorf, age 80, and a long-time resident of Manning, died in a Sacramento, California hospital September 2, 1980.
He was born and raised in Manning and after finishing school he became associated with his father in the pharmacy business. After the drug store closed, he operated an electric and appliance shop until 1948 when he and his family moved to Sacramento. For many years, while still a resident of Manning, he served the town as city clerk.
For 14 years he was a leasing agent for the Western Pacific R.R. Co. and also worked as a property manager. He held this position until he retired.
He was a fifty year member of the Masonic Fraternity, AF and AM, No. 450, Manning, Iowa.
Memorial services were held September 5 at 1:00 p.m. in A.J. Nicoletti Funeral Home, the Masonic Fraternity officiating with the assistance of the Rev. David MacNurds. The organist was Ann Hoffeditz and the interment was in East Lawn Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Schaitz, both of Sacramento.
