ORLA J. PETERS
Orla J. Peters, 78, died Monday, September 21, 1981, at the Manning General Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past 20 years.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. John D. Cornish officiating.

Bonita Hagedorn was organist and Judy Joens soloist. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.

Serving as casketbearers were Clarence Bowers, Harry Jansen, Lester Andresen, Harold Ruhde, John Miller, and Ray Pratt.

Mr. Peters is survived by a daughter Shirley and her husband Gene McCollum, Manning; a grandson Steve and his wife Linda, Manning; three great-grandchildren, Chad, Jeramy, and Mandy, and a brother Gilbert, Manning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Edna on March 23, 1979, and a brother Elmer Peters.

He was born July 11, 1903, at Arcadia, a son of John A. and Clara (Lohmeier) Peters. He attended rural schools near Arcadia and schools in Manning. He was married to Edna Ramsey March 5, 1925. The couple farmed near Manning until they moved to town in 1949. He was employed by F.D. Ross & Company and the Aspinwall Co-op. He entered the Manning Plaza Nursing Home on August 1, 1973.

He was active in agricultural conservation, and the United Methodist Church in Manning, in which he held many offices.


Orla Peters is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
