Ollie Grace Mohr

Funeral services for Ollie Grace Mohr were held Monday, July 8, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Reverend David Knudsen of the Calvary Baptist Church, Manning, Iowa, officiated the service with Sara Stracke as organist and Joann Wooster as vocalist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa with Richard Mericle, Ron Rezac, Orren Ramsey, Paul Hiatt, Charles Wooster and Barbara Mericle as casketbearers, Ollie, daughter of Joseph and Antonia (Ferick) Esychek, was born June 20, 1897, at Woodbine, Iowa. She attended Woodbine schools.

On May 27, 1920, Ollie was united in marriage with Roy Barnes; they made their home in Manning. Later, she married Alfred Mohr. Ollie continued to live in Manning and for many years worked at the Virginia Cafe. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and in later years she enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Senior Center and the Manning Plaza.

For many years, Ollie made her home with her brother, Joe Esychek. In 1992, they both moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. She died there late Friday evening, July 5, 1996, at the age of 99 years and 15 days.

Ollie was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, her brothers: Joseph Esychek and Jim Ferick, her sisters: Pearl Kuhl, Emma Smith, Anna CIingau, and Rose Glorfield.

Ollie is survived by nieces and nephews: Clifton Smith and his wife, Genevieve, of Dunlap; Margaret Kuhl, Denison; one great-niece, Mary Rezac, of Omaha, Nebraska; two great-great-nieces; one great-greatnephew, three great-great-greatnieces, other relatives and friends.

Ollie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Manning.


Ollie Mohr is buried in the Manning City Cemetery in the Esycheck plot.
