Olga Augusta (Ewoldt) Schrum
Olga was born in Iowa May 22, 1890, in Hayes Township, Crawford County. Her parents, Henry C. and Sophia (Schröder) Ewoldt, were also born in Germany. Her father had been a stow-away on a ship to America. His parents hid him in a barrel to get him aboard. He left to escape the conscription in the military and later he brought both his parents to the United States.

Olga Ewoldt married Herman in Clark, Iowa, in March 1909.

Herman and Olga Schrum farmed in the Bradley community.

Four children were born to this union: Hazel Emma Schrum; Hugo Ewoldt Schrum; Helma Anita Luvaas, and Vesta LeVon Moen.

Olga was a fine seamstress. During depression and hard times, she not only sewed for her family but for many others, sometimes trading her abilities for old clothes she could make over for her family. In the fall of 1944, Mr. and Mrs. Schrum moved to Clark.

Olga passed away July 12, 1979, in Clark, South Dakota. She is buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township, Clark County, South Dakota.
