Funeral services for Norman William (Bill) Miller, 69 of Manning were held on Saturday morning, January 10, 1970, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiating, Dorothy Kusel, organist. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery with nephews as pallbearers.
Born June 25, 1900, in Maple Grove, Pennsylvania, to John F. and Jennie (Zeek) Miller, he attended schools at Maple Grove and Oak Grove. He worked as a farmhand until the spring of 1920, when he came to the Westside, Iowa, area. He worked on various farms and was married in 1924 to Alma Hansen. They farmed near Manning, and then moved to Newton, where he worked as a carpenter for 20 years. Mrs. Miller died in July 1956.
On April 14, 1957, he was married to Minnie Dreier; they moved to Manning five years ago.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Mr. Miller, in ill health for six months, died unexpectedly at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll on Wednesday morning, January 7.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, his father, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Sixeas.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Pugh, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania a brother, Walter Miller, Manning; and three sisters: Mrs. Florence Baker, Clarksburg, West Virginia; Mrs. Grace Hudson, Defiance, Ohio; Mrs. Clara, Brindle, Martinsburg, West Virginia.
