A funeral service for Norma Jean Hagedorn Wailes of Carroll will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 1996, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
Mrs. Wailes, 64, died Thursday, April 25, 1996, at Friendship Home in Audubon.
The Rev. Charles Haake of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll will officiate the service.
Casket bearers will be Eric Meislahn, George Newcomb, Robert Hagedorn, Raymond Hagedorn, Dennis Grimm, and Duane Otto. Honorary casket bearers will be Tom Wessling, and Allan Meislahn.
Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.
Born August 16, 1931, in Carroll County, she was a daughter of William and Emma (Dethlefsen) Hass. She attended rural schools near her home.
She and Alvin Hagedorn were married April 27, 1955, in Denison. They lived on a farm north of Manning. After her husband died January 31, 1967, she and her children moved to Manning.
She and William Wailes were married in 1971.
Mrs. Wailes and her children eventually settled in Carroll. She worked at General Electric then was a greeter at Kmart.
Mrs. Wailes' health steadily deteriorated following surgery on a brain tumor in June 1995. She entered Friendship Home about a month before her death.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll.
She is survived by four children: Lois Brincks and her husband, Dave, of Humboldt, Larry Hagedorn and his wife, Beth, of Irwin, Jean Wailes of Carroll, and John Wailes of Lemoore, California; six grandchildren; her mother, Emma Hass, of Carroll; four sisters: Pearl Eischeid and her husband, Melvin, of Carroll; Caroline McFarland and her husband, Robert, of Yellville, Arkansas; Alice Meislahn of Denison; and Mary Ann Bolster and her husband, Leo, of Carroll; two brothers: Robert Hass and his wife, Phyllis, of California and Willis "Bill" Hass and his wife, Delores, of Fort Dodge; three sisters-in-law: Alberta Grimm of Manning, Delores Otto and her husband, Louie, of Manning, and Myrtle Otto and her husband, Elmer, of Manning; and a brother-in-law, Lewis Hagedorn, and his wife, Marie, of Manning.
Mrs. Wailes was preceded in death by her father; her two husbands; a brother, Vernon Hass; and a sister, Erma Bock.
