On August 5, 1944, Norma was united in marriage with Billie Taggart in Guthrie Center. Two children were born to this union. Norma and Billie farmed at various locations near Audubon and Harlan before moving to the Manning area in 1960. In the late 1960’s, Norma went back to school and completed her nursing degree through Iowa Western Community College. She then worked at Manning General Hospital as a nurse for more than 26 years. In 1988, Billie retired from farming and they moved into Manning.

Norma was a member of the Tri-County Social Club and taught Sunday School at the United Methodist Church for a number of years. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, embroidering, working in the flower garden, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker.

Norma had Parkinson’s Disease and in 1997 her health began to fail. On Sunday, August 22, 1999, Norma died suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Manning. She reached the age of 73 years, 9 months and 2 days.
