Mrs. Newton
A Sad Death.
The MONITOR last week announced the dangerous illness of Mrs. Newton and is hoped this week to report favorably concerning her, but after lingering and suffering and at times seemingly giving hopes of recovery, she quietly passed away early on the morning of Saturday, May 10th.
Mrs. Newton was born at Elkhorn, Wisconsin, August 3, 1851, where she lived until she came to Manning with her husband about one year ago. She was married to H.A. Newton February 14, 1882, and was a devoted and thoughtful wife an unassuming, intelligent, true woman.
She had a heart full of sympathy for the unfortunate and some apology always ready for the erring. She had not half lived out her days, but her life was such that it was well rounded at any time and it is now complete even before noon.
In religious views she was not sectarian in any sense of the word, but believed in and followed the right as she saw the right and had no superstitious fears of any kind. She was a member of the Universalist Church, the broad and liberal views of that denomination suiting her best.
Mrs. Newton was buried by the side of her infant in the new cemetery on the hill overlooking Manning, and there they sweetly sleep beneath the quiet of the stars. The bereaved husband and relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of a large number of friends, but only time can assume the ............ missing in paper
