Funeral services for Nettie Oeser were held Tuesday, January 24, 1989, at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning officiated the service with Paula Weiss as organist. Interment was in Westside Cemetery, Westside, Iowa, with her grandsons: Lee Nobiling, Clayton Nobiling, Don Hansman, Dale Nobiling, Lowel Rickers, and Richard Fischer, as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Nettie, daughter of Hilary and Mary (Reck) Eike, was born April 17, 1892, near Arcadia in Carroll County, Iowa. She attended country school and after her family moved to Manning she attended Manning schools. September 6, 1911, Nettie was united in marriage with William Fischer. They farmed in Crawford and Carroll Counties. After her husband's death in 1952, Nettie moved to Manning. In 1962, she was united in marriage with John Oeser and continued to make her home in Manning. John passed away in 1987.
Four and a half years ago Nettie moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home where she died Saturday afternoon, January 21, 1989, at the age of 96 years, 9 months, and 4 days.
Besides her husband, Bill and her husband, John, Nettie was preceded in death by her parents and by four sisters: Elva Eike, Mamie Heider, Millie Heider, and Marina Schroeder.
Nettie is survived by her son, Roy Fischer and his wife, Helen, of Brainerd, Minnesota; by two daughters, Eva Nobiling, of Westside and Julia and her husband, Ira Rowedder, of Denison; by 10 grandchildren; by 18 great-grandchildren; by 20 great-great-grandchildren; by two brothers; Hilary Eike, of Lake Okoboji and Lawrence Eike, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
