Naemi Catherine Anna, daughter of John and Caroline (Petersen) Grimm, was born March 2, 1910, at home in Ewoldt Township, Carroll County, Iowa. She was baptized April 10th of that year and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith May 16, 1926, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. A year later Naemi graduated from Manning High School.
November 11, 1931, Naemi was united in marriage with H. Julius Schroeder. Four children, Myra, Gary, Gloria, and Debora, were born to this union. Naemi and Julius farmed near Manning until 1969 when they moved to town.
Naemi devoted her time to raising her family and later enjoyed her grandchildren. She was skilled at knitting and baking, and held membership in the Homemakers Club for many years. Naemi was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and of the Dorcas Society.
Naemi had been hospitalized for a short time and died unexpectedly Friday morning, August 21, 1987, at Manning General Hospital, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 19 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, H. Julius Schroeder, of Manning; four children: Myra and her husband, Robert Mohr, of Oakland; Gary Schroeder and his wife, Joyce, of Manning; Gloria and her husband, Ed Higgins, of Omaha; and Debora and her husband, Richard Pfeiffer, of Ames; 13 grandchildren: Randy Mohr and his wife, April; Rick Mohr; Monica and her husband, Brian Rankin; Mark Mohr; Robin Mohr; Marcy Mohr; Denise and her husband, Terry Schwab; Gaylan Schroeder and his wife, Lesa; Scott Gunderson; Shari and her husband, Dirk Rawson; Stacy Higgins; Shonda Higgins; and Sara Pfeiffer; two great-grandchildren: Jacob and Christopher Mohr; one sister, Blondina Carstens, of Manning; two sister-in-law, Edna Vollstedt, of Manning and Anita Nulle, of Manning; and four aunts: Anna Ewoldt, Marie Misselhorn, Melinda Grage and Alma Peterson.
