Manning Monitor

Mrs. C. F. Weidner.
Minnie Hintz Weidner was born in Chicago, February 5, 1872; Died in Manning, Iowa, May 22, 1908, aged 36 years, 3 months and 17 days.

While yet a child her parents came west and settled near Arcadia, Carroll County, Iowa. She was married to C. F. Weidner February 9, 1895. Two children were born to them, George, age 12 years, and Dorothy, age 10 years. In early life she was baptized in the Christian faith. She was sending her children to Sunday school and training them to live righteous lives. She was a loving wife, a kind mother and a good neighbor; in fact, one of the last acts of her life before she was taken ill was to render aid to one of her former neighbors, who was having severe sickness in the house. Forgetting self she always rendered a helping hand to those in need of her services. Her motto was, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." A need, small or great, would enlist her services. Her illness was of short duration, and her departure was a surprise to all, yet we can only say, "Thy will, not ours, be done:"

She leaves to mourn her early departure a husband, two children, father and mother, one brother and a wide circle of friends

None but those who have sat in the shadow of a great bereavement can justly weigh such a sorrow as this. Much has been taken from this husband and little children and the large circle of relatives and friends. Sweet ties have been severed, but much is left; the Christian's hope and fadeless memories are still theirs.

The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Golden, and she was laid to rest in our little cemetery south of town. The floral offerings were many and most beautiful.

Card of Thanks.
There are hours that come into the lives of some when every impulse of the heart is buried under its weight of sorrow. We stand there today, yet we would fain give expression to the gratitude that wells up from the depths of our hearts as we remember the kindness of those who have done so much to comfort our precious dead, and to brighten for us a starless sky. We also especially thank the ladies of the Degree of Honor, of which our wife and mother was a member.
