Minnie Thomann was born at Clinton, Iowa, on August 17th, 1884. She was the daughter of Claus and Margaret Oppermann. She was united in marriage on July 22nd, 1924, to Charles Aloysius Thomann at Glendale, California.
There were no children born to them. Besides her husband left to mourn her there are two sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Annie Karstens of Salem, Oregon; Mrs. Bertha Vehrs of Manning; John of Manilla; Harvey of Alpena, South Dakota; William of Belle Plaines, Minnesota; Albert of Manning.
Mrs. Thomann grew to womanhood in Manning. Her mother died when she was in her late teens, and for several years afterwards Mrs. Thomann kept house for her father who died in 1920.
Shortly afterwards Mrs. Thomann went to visit her brothers in South Dakota and a few years later she left there for California where she met Mr. Thomann and there she was married.
About five years ago her health began to fail and she was under the constant care of doctors during that time. The last two years she suffered greatly and yet she bore her affliction with marvelous patience and courage. However, all that her husband could do and all the skill of surgeons and physicians were powerless to restore her health, and on Thursday, May the 17th, 1934, at 10:30 a.m. she passed quietly away to the homeland.
It was her wish that she be buried in Manning, and her husband has faithfully carried out this last wish of his loved one.
She will be much missed by him, by her sisters and brothers and by the large family circle here in Manning, and by a host of friends both here and at their home town in California.
Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Ohde Funeral Home, Rev. Hough officiating.
