Minnie Elizabeth, daughter of Fred and Metha (Ploen) Moeller, was born November 24, 1911, on the family farm in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. She attended country school near her home and then worked on the farm with her family.
On March 28, 1939, Minnie was united in marriage with Herbert Ernest Sinow in Manning. They lived in Manning until 1942 when Herb entered the United States Army. Minnie lived with her parents until Herb was honorably discharged from the Army in 1944 at which time they moved to Gray where Herb served as Post Master. Their two sons were born and raised while they lived in Gray. Minnie was an exceptional homemaker. In addition to enjoying the many tasks of keeping their home clean, Minnie painted and wallpapered and always had a productive garden. She canned and pickled the garden produce and in her spare time she crocheted many Afghans for her family.
Minnie was devoted to the town of Gray where she was an active member of the Gray Community Betterment Corporation. She volunteered by cleaning the Gray school for the many community activities held there and also helped with Bingo which she enjoyed playing. Minnie took great pride in operating the concession stand at the ball diamond in Gray for many years. She enjoyed any activity where she could visit with people. Above all, Minnie was devoted to her family. Minnie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.
Herbert died March 5, 1970, and Minnie continued to live at home in Gray with her son Roger. She enjoyed good health until a fall that broke her hip in her 90th year. After a brief stay at the Manning Plaza to recuperate, she returned home. Early in 2003 she was diagnosed with cancer and after a couple of hospital stays, died late Thursday, March 13, 2003, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. She was 91 years, 3 months, and 17 days of age.
Preceding Minnie in death are her husband; parents; brothers John Moeller and Freddie Moeller and sisters Betty Moeller and Amanda and her husband Emil Sinow.
