Minnie came to America with her parents and brother, Fred, in 1893 and they settled in Manning, Iowa, where Minnie attended school. The family returned to Germany, much to Minnie's dismay, when she was 12 with the thought of living there, however they did not like it, so returned to Manning.
On May 22, 1917, Minnie was united in marriage with August Reinke at her parents' home. Two children were born to this union. August died during the flu epidemic in 1920. Her son, Elmer, died at the age of 10 years. Minnie and her son, Harold, and his family made their home together for many years.
Minnie worked at the Manning Herald (German newspaper) and the Manning Monitor for several years. She played organ at the Lutheran church and enjoyed sewing, baking and playing cards.
Minnie had been a resident of the Manning Plaza for years and died there on Friday, February 3, 1995, at the age of 102 years, 11 months and 29 days.
