Milo C. Stammer

A memorial service for Milo C, Stammer, 78, of Lake View was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 1996, at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. Pastor Roger Carlisle officiated. Mr. Stammer passed away at the Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake on Monday, September 30, 1996, with burial in the Manning Cemetery.

Milo Claus Stammer was born October 23, 1917, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Louis and Mary (Schrum) Stammer. He attended the rural schools near his home.

As a young man, Mr. Stammer worked for area farmers. In 1942, he began farming his parent's home place north of Aspinwall. He retired and moved to Manning in 1979.

In 1986, he married Dolly, and they moved to Lake View. Because of illness, Mr. Stammer moved to Twilight Acres in May of 1996.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Congregation in Manning and later of Peace Lutheran Congregation of Wall Lake. He held offices in the Five Mile House, Schuetzen Verein and was an active member of the Manning Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dolly; and a sister, Gladys (Mrs. Hugo) Jahn of Manning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Leslie; and a sister, Verna Rowedder.
