He was born July 13, 1902, in Black Hawk County, Iowa. After his mother died when he was 2, he was raised by his aunt and uncle in Denison, Iowa, and in Manning, Iowa. He was educated in Crawford County, Iowa, at Hayes No. 9 country.
He moved to Flandreau in 1920 and worked for several farm families in Moody County. He married Lucy Belle Cushie February 18, 1924, in Flandreau. He later worked as a carpenter and at the lumber yard in Flandreau.
In 1967, he was employed by the City of Flandreau and retired in 1976.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter: Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Leat, Winner; four grandchildren; and one brother, Roy, Flandreau.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday in United Methodist Church, Flandreau, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday in Skroch Funeral Home, Flandreau.
