Funeral services for Mike Spack were held Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Patrick Sparling officiated the service with Fern Jensen as organist. Interment was held in the Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Patrick Abildtrup, Patrick Callender, Len Carstens, Ray Christensen, Ron Jochimsen and Rick Spack as casketbearers.

Honorary casketbearers were Angel Carbajal, Jamie Fischer, Tim Fischer, Armando Silva and Lee Wambsganss.

Kenneth Michael, son of Victor "Jimmy" and Arlene (Ruhde) Spack, was born July 21, 1945, in Denison, Iowa. He attended school in Manning and graduated with the class of 1963. Mike then earned an associate degree from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

Mike was drafted into the United States Army in 1965. He served in South Korea on the honor guard and attained the rank of Sergeant. Mike was honorably discharged in 1967.

Through the years, Mike worked for various industrial supply and technology companies in sales positions. He worked for Kaman Industrial Technologies in Mesa, AZ, for the last 15 years. Mike loved all sports, especially golf, Nebraska Cornhuskers football and car racing. He was also an old movie buff.

Mike was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. He moved back to Iowa to his sister's home in Ft. Dodge just two weeks ago. He died peacefully there surrounded by family early on Saturday, October 8, 2005, at the age of 60 years, 2 month and 16 days.

Preceding him in death are his father Victor; son Eric Michael Spack in 1991; and infant sister Janice Spack.

Mike is survived by his mother Arlene Spack of Manning; sister Linda and husband Michael Abildtrup of Ft. Dodge; brother Mark Spack and wife Patti of Omaha, NE; niece Stacey and husband R. Scott Johnson of Des Moines; nephew Patrick Abildtrup of Des Moines; niece Emily Spack of Omaha, NE; other relatives and many friends.
