Meves L. Wiese, 60, Aspinwall, died at his home here Friday morning, Nov. 8. He suffered a light stroke about three weeks ago and had apparently recovered. He was stricken with a heart attack about 7:30 a.m. Friday at the farm home of his son, Donald Wiese, and was taken to his own home, where he died at 8:30.

His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. The Rev. Carl Sinning will officiate and burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. Ray Pratt will be soloist, accompanied by Mrs. H.W. Hagedorn, Neighbors and friends will be active pallbearers.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Crawford County Board of Supervisors, William Dreessen, Otto Kuehl, Carl Nettermyer and Garst Fuller. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Wiese was born at Aspinwall Aug.12, 1903, a son of Adam and Elfrieda Schacht Wiese. He attended the Aspinwall school and graduated from Manning High School. His marriage to Erma Hayes of Manning took place in 1926. They lived on the same farm north of Aspinwall until moving into town seven years ago.

Mr. Wiese served as secretary of the Iowa Township school board for 20 years. For 13 years he was a member of the Crawford County A.S.C. committee and for eight years, on the board of directors of the South Crawford Rural Co-op. He was a member of the Crawford County Board of Supervisors for two years.

Surviving are his wife; his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wiese, Manning; one granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. Al (Helen) Jacobson and Mrs. Wayne (Mildred) Wendt, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and one brother, Robert Wiese, Des Moines.

His parents preceded him in death.


Meves Wiese is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
