Funeral services for Mrs. Detlef Vinke, 75, were held at the Ohde Funeral Home here on Friday afternoon, November 25, at 2 o'clock with Dr. F.E. Hamlin of the Manning Presbyterian Church officiating.
Music was by a quartet: Martha Mae (Mrs. Nick C.) Schrum, Pat (Mrs. Leo) Bruck, Ray Pratt, and Arthur Rix, accompanied by Bonita (Mrs. Henry W.) Hagedorn. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.
Mrs. Vinke, the former Metha Joachimsen, was born September 23, 1880, in Clinton County, daughter of John and Hanna (Sievertsen) Joachimsen. At the age of eight she came to Audubon County, and moved later to Crawford County with her parents. On February 28, 1908, she married Detlef Vinke at Manning. The couple lived on his parents' farm for five years; then on their own farm until 12 years ago, when they moved to Manning.
Mrs. Vinke is survived by her husband; two sons, Delbert and Averill Vinke, Manning; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (LuVerne) Killeen, Avoca; and Mrs. Floyd (Lois) Drake, who lives in Dakota; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Hagedorn and Mrs. William Rowedder, Manning; Mrs. Fred Lohrmann, Westside; and a brother, John Joachimsen, Sr., of Irwin.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph; her parents, one brother and one sister.
Metha died November 22, 1955.
