How do you like it when those commercial genealogy, grave, and historical websites make money off of your work and family history/treasures?
I've been online longer than most of them and have NEVER made ONE PENNY off any of the history I've work on over the last 50 years - to the contrary, all of this preservation has cost me tens of thousands of dollars!
My goal is to preserve all Manning and the Manning area history - which is so precious and very special (especially to me) and I have never once thought about making money off of other family's and individual's pictures and history.

So why not JOIN my astronomical endeavors and rather than give those other websites your pictures and history so they can make money off of it (and you) - let me digitize it and archive it in the Manning Historical Preservation database and even post some of it on my website.

Now I haven't done this all by myself...I've had hundreds of volunteers help me with the history books we've published and sourcing of Manning information, and the endless supply of pictures and information that hundreds more individuals with Manning connections have sent/brought to me to scan and archive and post on my web pages.
The reason why I have the immense database I do is because OTHERS shared with me and we worked together. I learned my lesson years ago about sharing history - it HAS to be a two-way street.
If I share and they don't share back then I would have never been able to build this amazing and ever-growing database I have now...so today when someone asks me for pictures and history, I first expect them to start sharing with me, otherwise most of them will come, take, and then I never hear from them again.

If you come here and take information and then don't contact me and share what you have you are only hurting your own research.
The reason why I have some of the obituaries and information on my web pages is because others shared.
So if you don't share what you have then I won't be able to add to my database which might catch another relative's eye - so you are only hurting your future prospects at getting more information.
Think about it!!!

Also, the obituaries on my web pages are my work and NOT to be copied and posted on other websites, especially the commercial ones which make money - you and they can spend your own time/money to do the research and editing/proof reading.

If you find an error, incorrect date, or misspelled name OR you can fill in information that is missing in many of these old obituaries such as maiden or first names please E-mail Dave Kusel

I cross reference the obituaries with the city of Manning Cemetery records and the Carroll genealogical booklet and find many discrepancies between all of the sources.
Some errors can be from the OCR scanner software.

When I get time I will add obituaries and memorial cards that I gather.
If you live in the Manning area and have OBs/Memorials please let me know.
If you live in another community and have obituaries/memorial cards of former Manning citizens and are interested in adding that information please contact me by e-mail.

I often get requests for obituaries/memorial cards of Manning citizens who have passed on.
The Manning Monitor will not take search requests for obituaries but they do have microfilm of most of the years the paper was published. They allow the general public to go through the microfilm during their normal business hours.

This Manning Memorial/Obituary web page is here to help people searching for their roots.
If you have more information and pictures on the people who are listed here please use the e-mail address above.

This information is provided to you for free but it will be appreciated if you would in turn share the information you have which may help others looking for their roots. It may also help you by having others contact you with information they have to share with you.
