MRS. RAY (MELVINA) VOLLSTEDT
Funeral services for Mrs. Ray Vollstedt were held on Saturday, July 13, 1974, at 13:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Rev. Edward F. Heinicke officiated with burial in the Manning Cemetery. Casketbearers were Dean Vollstedt, Lyle Vollstedt, Dale Vollstedt, Roger Kuhl, Gene Kuhl and Glen Kuhl.

Melvina, daughter of H. E. and Lena Jahn Kuhl, was born on February 8, 1911, in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended the rural school near her home and later graduated from the Manning High School. She taught in the rural school near Manning and was united in marriage with Ray Vollstedt on May 30, 1934. They have farmed near Manning all their wedded life, the past eight years on the Kuhl home place northwest of Manning.

Melvina had been in failing health the past several months, and entered St. Anthony Hospital at Carroll about two weeks ago where she passed away Wednesday evening, July 10, 1974, at the age of 63 years, five months and two days.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, the Dorcas Society of the church and the Altar Guild.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Herbert.

Survivors include her husband, Ray; one son, Paul, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Darlys) Bean of Lake City, four grandchildren, her mother, Mrs. Lena Kuhl of the Manning Plaza; two sisters, Mrs. Hugo (Elsie) Wilhelm and Mrs. Kathryn Vollstedt, both of Manning; two brothers, Marvin Kuhl of Manilla and Marcus Kuhl of Shaller, Iowa, as well as many other relatives and friends.


Melvina Vollstedt is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
