Mayburn Charles Ramsey, 63, of Manning died at his home early Sunday, November 4, 1973. He had been in failing health three years.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. The Rev. Don Griffin, pastor of the United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be seven nephews, including Robert Laverty, Leonard) Ramsey, Duane Boeck, Ron Hodne, Gene McCollum, Jack Ramsey, Jr., and Mark Ramsey.
Mr. Ramsey, son of Charles and Bessie Johnson Ramsey, was born at Botna October 21, 1910, and attended rural school. He was married to Phyllis Laverty October 11, 1932. After farming for two years they moved to Manning where Mr. Ramsey operated the Ramsey Transfer until recently.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and past member of the Manning Fire Department. He was park commissioner for many years and was a director of the Iowa Better Trucking Bureau.
Surviving with his wife are two children, Mrs. James (Pat) Drees and Jim of Manning; seven grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Hugo (Juanita) Boeck of Harlan; Mrs. Orla (Edna) Peters, Edward, Mrs. Charles (Bernice) Laverty, Mrs. Arlo (Thelma) Hodne, Orren and John, all of Manning; Ralph of Manilla and Mary of Lake View. An infant daughter preceded him in death.
