Mrs. Wiese, daughter of Peter and Magdalena Goettsch, was born Matilda Louisa Goettsch April 13, 1869, in Probstei, Germany. While in Germany, she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
At the age of 13 years; she came to the United States with her parents, who located at Manning.
She married Mr. Wiese February 16, 1894. They began farming near Manning and continued to farm until they moved to Manilla in January, 1938. Mr. Wiese died July 8, the same year. Since that time, Mrs. Wiese had lived with her children, spending most of the time with Mr. and Mrs. William Wiese at Manning.
Mrs. Wiese, 84, Of Manning, Dies
Mrs. Fred Wiese, 84, died Sunday morning at the Pfoltner Nursing Home here. Funeral Tuesday.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ohde Funeral Home. The Rev.
W.P. Gauer of the Methodist Church will officiate and a quartet will sing.

Survivors
Surviving children include: Mrs. Chris (Anna) Hargens, Manning; Louis Wiese,
Manilla; Fred, Manning; Henry, Audubon; Conrad, Council Bluffs; Mrs. Alma Grau, Davenport, and Herbert, Kimballton.
She also leaves 43 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hannes Schmidt, Manning.
One sister, Mrs. Henry Goettsch, and two brothers, Conrad and Adolph, preceded her in death.
