Mathilda (Borkowski) Rudnick 1868-1894
Mrs. Albert Rudnick died very suddenly at her home in Harrison Township last Wednesday evening.
She was only about 25 years of age and appeared to be strong and healthy.
Her husband had been to Hartley that day and when he returned he found her very sick. She told him to get her a glass of water quick and while drinking it passed away. The disease which ended in her death is not known, but is supposed to be hemorrhage of the lungs. She leaves a husband and three small children.
The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community.
Funeral May 18, 1894, St. John's Lutheran Church, May City, Iowa. Burial in Harrison Township
Additional notes:
Mathilda Rudnick was Otto F. Borkowski's sister. She was also a sister to Carl Borkowski Sr. She was married to Albert Rudnick in August 1887, probably at the Trinity Lutheran Church originally located southeast of Manning in Audubon County. Mathilda and Albert were the parents of Bertha Beck, Hattie Raebel, and Ida Jillich.
Hattie Raebel lived in Manning on Fourth Street. She was the mother of Naomie (Mrs. Marvin) Wiemann.
Mathilda would have been an Aunt to Harold Borkowski and great Aunt to Karen (Borkowski) Stueve. She would have been related to most all of the Borkowski's that were members of the Trinity church. She was also a great-aunt to Merle Borkowski.
