Service Today For Mrs. Mary Thomsen
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Thomsen, a resident of this vicinity for many years , will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at Zion Lutheran Church with pastor John M. Ansorge in charge.

Mary Anna (Schleuter) Thomsen, daughter of Clause and Chrene Schleuter, was born July 17, 1868 in Hemmingstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and passed away Monday, May 19th, 1941 at the Wyatt Hospital following an illness of about two weeks. However, she had been in rather ill health for some time.

The deceased came from Germany with her parents when she was three months old. She had been baptized previously. The family first settled in Bloomington, Ill. In 1883 they moved to Anchor, Illinois where her mother passed' away. Four years later her father passed away.

On April 6 1884 she was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

The deceased was, united in marriage to George C.H. Thomsen at Denison Iowa on April 27, 1887 and to this union four children were born: Anna Martins, Manning; Lena Vehrs, Manilla; Louie Thomsen, Walnut, Ia.; and Herman Thomsen of Glidden, Ia. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and; five great grandchildren. She, leaves a sister, Lena Schmidt of Roekham, S.D., and one brother, John of Springfield, Minn. One sister and a brother passed away in infancy and a brother Louie died in Chicago.

Mrs. Thomsen was preceded in death by her husband who died on June 27, 1930.

In 1894, Mr. and Mrs. Thomsen purchased a farm six miles west of Manning. In 1920 she and her husband retired and moved to their home in Manning.

Interment will be in the Manning cemetery. Pallbearers will be John J. Struve, Herman Behrens, Herman Hagedorn, George Wegner, Alfred Schroeder, Charles Nissen.


ANNA MARY THOMSEN
Services for Mary Anna (Schleuter) Thomsen, 68, of Glidden, was held at 10 a.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church here, with the Rev. H. Wallace Kinzler officiating.

"Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me" were sung by Elmer Peters, accompanied by the organist. Mrs. Don Hansen.

Pallbearers were Clark Thomsen, Curtis Thomsen, Tom Thomsen, Jeffrey Thomsen, Michael Thomsen, and Scott Thomsen. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery, Manning.

The Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home of Glidden was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thomsen died October 29, 1974, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital, Carroll, after a long illness.


Mary Thomsen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
