MARY ELLEN SCHLEIS
A funeral service for Mary Ellen Schleis of Edwardsville, Kansas, was held this afternoon, Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Mrs. Schleis, 50, formerly of Manning, died Saturday, March 15, 1997, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam, Kansas.

Pastor Robert Riggert of Zion Lutheran Church, in Manning will officiate the service.

Honorary casket bearers will be friends.

Burial will be in Manning Cemetery.

Born September 23, 1946, at Manning, she was a daughter of Harry and Dorothea (Schrum) Musfeldt and baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

She attended Iowa Township School No. 6 and graduated from Manning High School in 1964.

She and James Schleis were married May 8, 1965.

The Schleises resided in Los Angeles, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; Harlan, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska; Brenham, Texas; and lastly in Edwardsville, Kansas.

She was a software development specialist at Educational Software Concepts.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Schleis, of Edwardsville; four children: Todd Schleis, Casey Schleis, and Kevin Schleis, all of Edwardsville, and Shonda Blum and her husband, Jeff, of Neola; two granddaughters; her mother, Dorothea Musfeldt, of Manning; five brothers and sisters: Charlene McGuire and her husband, Joe, of Pella, Steven Musfeldt and his wife, Cindy, of Gladstone, Missouri; Douglas Musfeldt and his wife, Carol, of Kansas City, Missouri; Stanley Musfeldt and his fiancee, Lori Lenz, of Manning; and Carol Miller and her husband, Russell, of Vernon Hills, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Musfeldt, in 1977.
