Manning Monitor

Mrs. Mary Peetz, one of Manning's oldest residents, died at her home on North Main Street last Saturday forenoon. A number of complaints, the results of old age, were the causes that led to her death. An aged husband and three children are left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. The funeral took place from the home Sunday afternoon at three o'clock, Rev. William Martens officiating. Mrs. Peetz was born in Germany, in 1820. She was twice married; to a Mr. Johde in 1840 and to her late husband in 1854. She leaves three children, Hans and Thomas Johde and Mrs. Edlef (Peetz) Jurgensen. Mr. Peetz, who is a cabinet-maker by trade, came to Manning in 1881, when the city was first laid out, and with his family has resided here ever since.
