Mary McWilliams
DEATH OF MRS. McWILLIAMS.
At the family home near Manning Thursday evening June 25, 1889, occurred the death of
Mrs. Mary McWilliams, wife of Ora E. Williams, aged 20 years, after an illness of
thirty-six hours, of internal trouble. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Bingham, and was born in Knox County, Illinois, September 16, 1869. On December 28,
1887, she was united in marriage with Ora E. McWilliams, who succeeds her. One babe, a
month of age, at its mother's death had blessed their union. Mrs. McWilliams was reared
to womanhood among us and the announcement of her death brought deep sorrow to the
entire community. In the first bloom of womanhood, and just as she had taken up the
honored and cherished name of mother she was snatched from our midst by the
unrelenting hand of death, leaving a heart-broken husband, an infant babe and many
sorrowing relatives and friends. The funeral was held from the family residence Saturday
at 10 A.M., Rev. Eckles conducting the services. The remains were followed to their last
resting place by a large concourse of sympathizing friends.
Note Manning Cemetery tombstone records: Mary F. McWilliams died June 17, 1889, 19 years, 9 months, 18 days; wife of O.E. McWilliams.
